Printing should be the simplest part of producing a drawing. You have already made every decision that matters. The line weights are right. The fills are right. The scale is right. The sheet is composed. Corvus carries that intent all the way from the drawing to the digital PDF to the printed sheet. What you see is what you issue. Zero cleanup, configuration, or test prints. No more crossing your fingers.
What you see is what gets issued.
A drawing should not change simply because it leaves the screen. Lines should not get heavier. Hatches should not disappear. Text should not move. Fills should not turn black. Corvus treats printed output as a faithful representation of the work you already made, not another interpretation of it. The drawing, the PDF, and the printed page should all tell the same story.
Printing should not be a workflow.
You already did the work. Printing should not introduce another sequence of page setups, plot configurations, output settings, PDF drivers, test prints, adjustments, and retries. Choose what you want to issue, choose where it is going, and print. Corvus keeps the machinery underneath the surface so the final step actually feels final.
Stop fixing drawings that were already right.
There is something especially frustrating about finishing a drawing and then having to repair it for output. Adjust a line weight. Change a hatch. Tweak a fill. Move something away from the edge. Export again. Check again. Corvus preserves the graphic decisions you made while drawing so preparing to print does not become another round of drawing.
A line weight should stay a line weight.
Line weights carry meaning. They establish hierarchy, distinguish what is cut from what is beyond, separate primary information from secondary information, and give architectural drawings their extraordinary clarity. Set a line weight once and trust it everywhere. Corvus keeps the graphic language of the drawing consistent from screen to PDF to paper.
Stop maintaining a second graphics system just to print the first one.
Plot styles, pen tables, color mappings, output overrides, printer-specific configurations. Architects have spent decades learning systems whose primary purpose is making drawings print the way they were already supposed to look. Corvus starts from a simpler premise: the graphic attributes in your project are the graphic attributes that get printed.
1/4" = 1'-0" should be a fact.
Scale is not an approximation. When a drawing says it is at 1/4" = 1'-0", 1:50, or any other scale, that relationship should survive all the way to the page. Corvus understands architectural scale throughout the project and carries it faithfully into output. No accidental shrinking. No mysterious enlargement. No wondering whether someone checked “fit to page.”
Paper should understand the drawing.
A 24 × 36 sheet is a 24 × 36 sheet. An A1 is an A1. Corvus understands standard and custom architectural sheet sizes, orientation, margins, scale, and printable areas without making you reconstruct the page every time the output device changes. Compose the sheet around the architecture, not around the peculiarities of a printer driver.
Preview the thing that will actually print.
A print preview should not be an educated guess. Corvus shows you the actual composition, scale, line weights, fills, patterns, images, typography, and page boundaries that will make it into the output. If something will be clipped, missing, rasterized, or changed, you should know before hundreds of pages start coming out of the printer.
Your PDF should look like your drawing.
PDF remains one of the most important ways architecture moves through the world. Consultants review it. Clients mark it up. Contractors build from it. Authorities approve it. Corvus produces crisp, precise PDFs directly from the project while preserving vector geometry, typography, line weights, fills, imagery, scale, and the visual hierarchy you intended.
Keep vectors vector.
A precise drawing should remain precise. Lines, curves, text, hatches, and other vector information stay crisp as you zoom, print, and reproduce the work. Corvus uses rasterization when the content genuinely requires it, not because the output pipeline could not figure out what else to do. Sophisticated graphics should not come at the expense of precise drawings.
Print the beautiful stuff too.
Technical precision and visual richness should not require different output systems. Transparency, gradients, images, patterns, textures, shadows, color, and other graphic treatments should print as intentionally as lines and dimensions. Corvus handles the complexity underneath so a richly composed drawing does not become a troubleshooting exercise at the moment you need to issue it.
Print one sheet without thinking about the other ninety-nine.
Sometimes you need the whole set. Sometimes you need the detail you changed five minutes ago. Print a sheet, a selection of sheets, a drawing, a detail, a view, or the complete issue without rebuilding the output setup each time. The project already knows what these things are. Printing should too.
Issue a hundred sheets with the same confidence as one.
A drawing set should behave like a drawing set. Select the sheets you need, order them, review them, and issue them together. Corvus preserves the correct scale, visibility, graphics, title information, revisions, and sheet settings across the set so batch output does not introduce surprises that were absent from the individual drawings.
Check the set before someone else finds the problem.
A missing viewport, clipped annotation, blank sheet, broken reference, incorrect scale, outdated revision, or absent image should not be discovered after issuance. Corvus can check the set before it leaves the project and surface anything that deserves your attention. Preflight should catch production mistakes while there is still time to fix them.
Missing information should be impossible to miss.
The most dangerous printing errors are not ugly. They are invisible. A hatch disappears. A section fails to output. A reference goes missing. An image drops out. Corvus knows what belongs on the sheet and can verify that the output contains it. Professional documents deserve more than visual hope as a quality-control system.
Know exactly what you are issuing.
A permit set, bid set, pricing set, construction set, revision, addendum, or client package represents the project at a particular moment. Corvus keeps sheets, revisions, dates, issue information, and project state connected so you can understand exactly what went out, when it went out, and what was included without reconstructing the history from filenames and folders.
Print the current project, not yesterday's export.
A drawing set should not depend on someone remembering which files need to be regenerated. Changes to drawings, models, objects, worksheets, annotations, and project information flow into the sheets that reference them. When it is time to issue, Corvus works from the current project rather than a collection of exports that began aging the moment somebody made them.
Your title block already knows the project.
Project name. Client. Sheet number. Sheet title. Scale. Date. Revision. Issue. Drawn by. Checked by. The project already contains much of the information that appears repeatedly across a drawing set. Corvus keeps title blocks connected to that information so hundreds of sheets do not become hundreds of opportunities for tiny inconsistencies.
Print in black and white without redesigning in black and white.
Sometimes the working environment uses color to make information easier to understand while the issued set needs to reproduce clearly in monochrome. Corvus lets the output adapt intentionally without requiring an entirely separate graphic system. Preserve hierarchy, contrast, line weight, and legibility whether the destination is color, grayscale, or black and white.
The office printer and the print shop should agree.
A quick 11 × 17 review set and a full-size construction set may leave through very different devices, but the architecture should not change between them. Corvus separates the intent of the document from the quirks of the output device. Change the destination without unexpectedly changing the drawing.
Print small. Print enormous.
A detail on letter-size paper. A 24 × 36 construction sheet. An A1 competition board. An oversized presentation panel. Corvus lets the same project move across the physical scales architects and designers actually use while preserving the relationships, resolution, graphic hierarchy, and quality appropriate to each output.
Stop printing test prints to test the printing.
Test prints should be useful when you want to judge something physical: the feel of a line on paper, the readability of type from across a room, the balance of a presentation board. They should not be required to discover whether the software changed the drawing. Corvus makes digital output predictable enough that a test print can be about design rather than debugging.
Paper still matters.
Architecture may begin on a screen, but it continues to live on desks, pin-up walls, conference tables, permit counters, job sites, workshop benches, and construction trailers. People draw over drawings. They circle things. Measure things. Fold them. Carry them into buildings. Corvus treats paper as a first-class destination because the physical drawing remains one of architecture's most useful tools.
Print without becoming the person who knows how to print.
Every studio seems to have someone who knows the mysterious combination of settings required to make the plotter behave. Professional knowledge should be about architecture, not printer folklore. Corvus removes as much output configuration as possible and makes what remains understandable enough that printing does not depend on finding the one person who remembers how it works.
