Building Information Modeling (BIM) should make a project more intelligent without making the work more complicated. Let the architecture lead.

Plans, sections, elevations, models, worksheets, quantities, and other project information stay connected because they are all looking at the same underlying objects.

Stop maintaining the model.

Intelligent models can become surprisingly fragile when their usefulness depends on perfect setup, careful housekeeping, and specialized knowledge. Corvus takes responsibility for more of that complexity. You should be able to concentrate on the quality and accuracy of the project rather than constantly tending to the health of the model that contains it.

Make sophisticated objects without making heavy ones.

More information should make an object more useful, not increasingly difficult to work with. Corvus objects can carry geometry, materials, properties, relationships, classifications, and other project intelligence without requiring you to build elaborate structures simply to describe ordinary building components. Sophistication belongs in the system, not in the amount of work required to use it.

Keep objects flexible as they become specific.

The more developed a project becomes, the harder its objects can become to change. Corvus preserves flexibility throughout the process. Add dimensions, materials, properties, relationships, and specifications without turning an early design decision into something brittle. Greater definition gives you more intelligence without taking away your ability to keep designing.

Work at the level the project requires.

Not every object needs the same amount of information at the same time. A conceptual mass, schematic wall, developed assembly, and construction-ready detail represent different levels of understanding. Corvus lets each exist at the level appropriate to the work, so you can increase precision where it matters without forcing the entire project into premature detail.

Let relationships do the coordination.

Buildings are systems of connected things, but too much BIM coordination still depends on people remembering what affects what. Corvus understands relationships between objects so changes can propagate through the project naturally. When something moves, changes, appears, disappears, or develops, the things that depend on it can respond with it instead of waiting to be found and repaired later.

Keep the information where the work happens.

Edit a value in a worksheet and the project reflects it. Change the object in the drawing or model and the worksheet reflects that instead. There is no export, edit, reimport, or reconciliation loop to maintain.

BIM should not require a BIM specialist.

The benefits of an intelligent building model should not depend on having someone in the studio dedicated to managing it.
